We just wrapped up a very enlightening workshop about writing an artist bio that promotes intrigue and allure. In 2023, it’s not enough to write out your accolades and accomplishments, where you’re from, and what genres you perform and try to call that a bio. People are looking for something new and interesting that they can resonate with.
They are looking for something more.
In the workshop, we talked about the elements of a strong bio and what not to do. We also demonstrated how to do the write-up featuring a fellow musician. It was like a mastermind collective as we all worked together on it. I’m excited to share this example of a bio (re)write-up and I hope this will help other musicians create a captivating bio of their own. Watch the workshop here or click the play button below.
Our featured artist was Daniella Galasso. She is a San Francisco Bay indie-pop artist. She infuses classic storytelling with modern pop and electronic sensibilities. She writes stories about love, relationships, personal struggles, and ordinary life. Check out her music here.

Original Bio
California-born, Italian-bred, Daniela Galasso (Dani) is an indie-pop singer-songwriter from San Francisco Bay Area. She loves combining the clever lyricism & storytelling of a classic singer-songwriter with modern pop production and an electronic aesthetic. Her sound is similar to Lennon Stella, Taylor Swift and Lauren Mayberry (of Chvrches). Dani is an award-winning songwriter—her song, Yesterday’s Story, was awarded 2nd place in Indie International’s 2022 Songwriting competition and many of her other songs have garnered recognition and praise. Dani has one of those voices that immediately draws you in to tell a story—her vocals are both smooth and vintage as well as delicate and airy, and her music has a wistful impressionistic flavor to it. Dani enjoys expressing universal, emotional topics in her music—stories about love, relationships, personal struggles, and ordinary life—and her songs are filled with heartfelt nostalgia and hypnotizing grace. Dani’s vision for her upcoming EP is to capture the soft spoken female perspective in songs that are honest and heartfelt and highlight the beauty in vulnerability.
We asked Dani a few more questions about her life as a musician, some of her upcoming projects, and a few thought-provoking questions as well. What we learned from that process was that Dani actually has a lot more to say to provide a context that would help the reader understand how Dani’s music can fit into their world.
Here’s Dani’s New Bio
With a sound described as ‘wistful impressionistic flavors,’ Italian-bred San Francisco Bay Area singer-songwriter, Daniela Galasso, is making waves with her own brand of elctro-pop meets classic singer-songwriter fusion. Starting at incredibly humble beginnings as an impressionable 4th grader, Dani began her musical adventure figuring out complex melodies by ear on her toy piano and evolved into an accomplished singer-songwriter with notable awards under her belt including her most recent – A 2022 2nd Place Title with Indie International’s Songwriting Contest in the Pop Category. Leading with the heart and writing about some of life’s deepest feelings, Dani’s music draws the listener in with enchanting sounds that evoke other worlds by incorporating electronic instruments and ethereal elements. Dani passionately describes this interesting combination of life-affirming messaging, haunting vocals, with EDM sensibilities as Dreampop – a musical dalliance masterfully intertwining imagination with reality. This magical sensation can be found in Dani’s newly released Single, a re-imagined modern and edgy cover of Don’t You Forget About Me with a surprising edgy, new wave, cinematic twist and anthemic vocals. Join Dani in the release of her highly anticipated debut EP, titled “Comfortable,” an indie-pop album of honest, confessional songs that explore the idea of beauty in vulnerability facilitating a musical investigation into the journey towards growth this coming Spring.
The new bio adds a new level of imagery and paints a picture for the reader of what they’re going to get out of learning more about Dani. It also includes some of her most recent projects and dives a little deeper into her true passion for being a musician.
