“The way to success is often one baby step at a time.”
Hi, I’m Anitra Jay, creator of The Crafty Musician. I started this site to help support independent artists like me! After several years pursuing music as a career, I’ve learned a few things that I’d like to pass on to others to inspire and encourage other artists to realize their dreams! The biggest lesson I’ve learned since starting my journey is that you don’t need a record label or fame to make a living from music. All you need is grit and a few tricks of the trade. That’s the premise of The Crafty Musician. We’re mixing DIY tricks with grit and purpose to create a career each of us can be proud of.
To get the most out of this site, sign up to receive articles to your inbox (sign up here) so you don’t miss out on any good stuff. When you get the articles, come back to this site and post in the comment sections what your thoughts are and any other ideas you have to add to the topic. You will see others doing the same thing. My hope is that this will evolve into a community where we learn and grow from each other.
Here’s a little more about me:
I’m a full-time R&B/Soul singer-songwriter based in Houston, TX. Since 2011, I’ve been traveling across the US sharing my passion with all who will listen. I perform with a percussionist who also happens to be my handsome hubby. We’re a funky interracial duo! I have a background in Marketing & Public Relations that has served me well in achieving full-time status as an Independent Artist. To learn more about me and my music check out my official website. One of the most interesting things that has happened to me since I became a full-time musician is building a Tiny House which led to my appearing on National TV! My hubby and I appeared on HGTV’s Tiny House Hunters in the Spring of 2016 and boy was it a lot of fun. I learned so much from that experience.
