I recently wrote a post about cross-promoting ideas where independent artists can and should work together to get more exposure. One idea was to host a mixtape where other artists would lend you their songs and you all release the mixtape to your audiences. The mixtape is about a specific theme which makes it relevant and timely.

After writing that article, I decided to do it as well. And here’s what I came up with…

You Know by Dave Berman

Dave Berman is a musician and singer/songwriter who has a style that makes familiar songs sound new and unfamiliar songs sound like old favorites. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Dave plays a mix of rootsy, acoustic music on guitar, ukulele and harmonica from standards to rock and folk to punk.

Dave started playing ukulele at age 10, piano at 11, and guitar 13. He has played electric bass in Omaha cover bands for over 25 years. He learned to play harmonica from his father and continues to make that instrument an essential part of his repertoire. His go-to guitar is the same one he received as a gift from his wife and young son on Father’s Day, 1978.  In recent years, Dave has honed his solo performance at coffee houses, bars, and private parties. He is known in the local open mic scene for performing 8 complete songs in 15 minutes. His personal brand, Club Dave Music, is dedicated to making the live music experience fun and engaging for listeners and players. Secret by Tica Felise

Tica Felise is an unapologetic ukulele goddess with a soulful voice akin to Janis Joplin, she pushes limits with her accessible lyrical style and edgy subject matter. Tica Felise studied classical vocal performance at Doane University (Crete, NE), recorded and played with The Duke Street Kings and Proprio in Denver, CO. After relocating to Omaha in 2015, she now plays with The Shineys, a harmony rich collaboration with Carrie Ann Buchanan. I Think I Just Might by Tod Pronto

Tod Pronto is a Singer / Songwriter born and raised in Newport Vermont. Tod has recorded 3 albums of original music to date including his album “Nashville Stereo” that was recorded in Nashville, TN for “B-Venturous Records” and his new self produced album “It Can’t All Be Wrong”. He also writes instrumental background music for television and his work has appeared on AMC and The National Geographic Network among others. Tod’s song “Money and a Suitcase” was the first track featured on a compilation album put out by “Shut Eye Records” in 2005 called “The United State of Americana Vol. 3” that went on to reach #20 on the Roots Rock Airplay Report. Carpenter by Brad Hoshaw

Brad Hoshaw is an acoustic singer-songwriter from Omaha, Nebraska. He is best known for his seductive tenor voice and ability to bring audiences to tears. His music can be described as a cross between Neil Young and Bon Iver. Brad is currently preparing to enter the studio to record his ninth LP.

Brad Hoshaw began writing and performing when he was 16 years old. He has shared the stage with countless National touring acts including Black Francis, Bright Eyes, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Gomez, Cursive and Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers. Winner of five Omaha Entertainment & Arts Awards, Brad Hoshaw has composed music for National Public Radio as well as independent theater and film.
